Born in Tokyo – moved to Vienna – stop-overs in Florence and Seoul – finally relocating on the island of Majorca: Elma Choung grew up inbetween cultures and was moulded by her international experience.
Crossing frontiers in her projects, she is engaged in ceramics, furniture design, interior decoration and facade design for both privat and public spaces.
Her work’s specific aesthetics result from close interaction between function and form.
Based upon the foundations of a thorough tertiary design education in the fields of ceramics and product design (1984, MA at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna with Matteo Thun) and a broad academic knowledge she devises both stylish and feasible projects.
Elma Choung helps her clients to develop their personal style and to arrive at optimal solutions within set financial limits, incorporating design classics, found objects of a somewhat personal appeal as well as/or sustainable one-offs into her design-concepts based upon current trends.
Mag. Art. Elma Choung
